One of the ongoing issues we had with Karl Lueders as our buyers agent was his obvious dislike for Aurora. Obviously he’s not alone, it’s weird how anti-Aurora so many people in Denver are, but umm.. hello.. you’re a realtor, and umm.. Aurora makes up, oh I don’t know, a third of the metro area.
We told Karl what our budget was before we set out on this ridiculous adventure, we did our best to find the most “acceptable” areas of Aurora, not to mention wasted lots of time trying in vain to find something halfway decent in our price range in Englewood instead. By the way, those neighborhoods were much worse and so were their crime rates.
We would meet Karl at a property in Aurora and Karl would look especially snobbish and we would ask, “what’s the matter, getting tired of hanging out in Aurora?” and his reply was, “getting tired?!” We would find a nice house but express some reservations and he would tell us it was the best thing we were going to find in Aurora. When we had already found better..
And if you think we were imagining this you should know, we confronted him more than once and let him know that if he didn’t have a viable alternative in our price range then he needed to adjust his attitude, and more than once he admitted he was letting his opinion of Aurora affect his actions. He apologized and assured us things would change and they did – for a day or two.
Maybe if we had been buying in Cherry Creek we would have had a better experience and received better service.
