Long time no post I guess, but we found this story on Fox 31 in Denver about a local guy who got screwed by his realtor even worse than we did:
A Denver man who accidentally spent $30,000 repairing and renovating a condo he moved into, but doesn’t own, has been ordered to vacate the premises by the real owner.
FOX 31 first reported this story in early March.
Jonathan Kyte began working on the unit 6 months ago and only learned recently that he didn’t own the unit. Instead, the City and County of Denver says he owns the unit next door.
He found out about the mistake almost by accident when he received a map which showed the unit he’s living is actually unit number 4.
But he owns the deed and title to unit number 5. Jonathon blames the Coldwell Banker listing agent for the mistake. She marketed the property and provided the key to the unit Jonathon and wife have been living in.
He called the listing agent again and again but she wouldn’t return his calls. He also called the title company, ” Colorado American Title,” and an employee promised to get back to him, but never did.
So Jonathon called Fox 31 News. We confronted the listing agent’s supervisor, but he would not comment on camera. He said their lawyers were looking into it.

Coincidentally the real estate agent behind this debacle is with Coldwell Banker. That’s where Karl Lueders started his illustrious real estate career! I wonder if they know each other (or if they’re commiserating over cocktails right now).
So I guess that’s where Karl Lueders learned not to accept responsibility or return phone calls! Although I’m sure they reinforce those lessons at the Kentwood Company at Cherry Creek.
